odin made these dolls in his handwork class last year. it continues to be one of his favorite classes. i think nurturing the idea that you can create things with your own hands is A Good Thing.

48/365. a fading memory on the fridge.
odin and friends from school attended a comicon at the local library in october 2014. someone was printing “instant” photos and one ended up on our fridge.
the brown splotch is reminder of the day I tried to make carbonated chocolate milk and it exploded all over our kitchen 🙂
16/365. music night.
16 year old me would be mortified to learn 42 year old me gets together with a group of adults and their children to play music and sing songs. all jokes about me singing “if i only had a brain” will be sent to /dev/null.
we’ve been doing it for years. turns out it’s good, clean fun. the kids enjoy it and it’s a great excuse for me to challenge my inner hermit.
10/365. my budding career as a sports journalist.
going through old papers and pleased to see the article kris and i wrote with photo I took at altoona tournament was eventually published in our local newspaper a few weeks after we submitted it.
our second published story of the season!
day 3822: getting trounced by kris and odin while playing cribbage at the driftless cafe.
one of life’s little pleasures in the driftless region – hanging out at the driftless cafe playing cribbage with kris and odin while waiting for local, organic dinner to be served. the lake louie ipa makes the impending defeat just a little easier.
the cafe is a special place and they have a kickstarter thing going to help fund their expansion. check it out and feel free to kick in a few bucks whether or not you live in the area 🙂
i almost forrest gumped it.
out on the first 7 mile leg of a 14 mile run in coolish temperature and fog while listening to breathe by minnesota and i had a thought that if it was on infinite jukebox i could possibly maybe have just forrest gumped it and just kept going and going and going…
things you think while running along cornfields in the upper midwest.
every day i run by the growing corn and today it occurs to me. why is the left side of the road tassled and the other not?
perhaps you recognize the leaning electrical pole from a more wintry view of this scene.
