not sure why it took me so long to think about making stuffed crust pizza with organic valley mozzarella stringles but i’m glad it finally came to me! easy peasy to wrap the crust around a stringle and bake like usual.
woila – cheesy stuffed crust!

it’s hard to remember exactly when – probably close to 20 years ago – kris bought a 1961 edition of rodale press. she wanted to garden more and wanted to be organic which started us down a path of thinking about where are food comes from which many years later was a big reason why i was very excited to join organic valley ( 9 years ago?! ).
once a year we get a letter from a local, amish, organic poultry farmer named freeman miller. he asks us how many broilers we want and in the middle of the summer we get a postcard asking us to come pick them up on the day they are “processed” by hand.
i enjoy the tradition of getting to go out and talk with freeman and see his children. often Odin comes along. it’s neat that some years we’ve been out of town and neighbors have been thoughtful enough to pick up our birds for us without asking since freeman has no refrigerated storage.
i guess freeman must be getting more customers because the letters used to be handwritten.
you might be at the organic valley annual meeting dinner if the center table beverage chilling on ice is deeeeelicious whole and chocolate milk.
bacon and jalapenos make for a simple and tasty way to spruce up a hotdog ( we love organic prairie’s 100% grass-fed organic hotdogs ).
simply cut a line down the length of the hotdog deep enough to fit several slices of jalapeno. precook some bacon so it’s tender enough to wrap around the hotdog. then secure the bacon with some toothpicks. cook on medium heat on a grill until the hotdog is hot and the bacon is crisp.
top with sweet pickle relish and mustard.
served with homemade fries spritzed with apple cider vinegar for a Delicious Flavor Bonanza ®
speaking of grassmilk i have long thought i should start a recipe series for “things that pair well with a Big Glass of Grassmilk”. i guess now is as good a time as any 🙂
make a chocolate mayonnaise cake and top with whipped cream frosting ( you could use something other than organic valley heavy whipping cream, but really, why? ). grab a glass of the cream on top grassmilk.
enjoy the perfect pairing. very much odin approved.
every day since we launched our 100% grass-fed, cream on top grassmilk, i’ve heard from loyal fans who wanted a screw cap on the carton so they could shake up the “cream on top” milk to get the cream mixed back in without spraying milk all over the place which would happen if you didn’t very precisely pinch the entire old school gable top opening. seriously, if you call in to our consumer hotline or email a comment, i read it. every. single. one 🙂
and so, i’m happy to announce you’ll be seeing caps on the grassmilk that’s in stores east of the rockies ( sorry west cost folks, we’re still working on it for you ).
an added bonus in our household is that we can lay the cartons down after opening which is super useful when the space available for standing up a carton is occupied, as is often the case in our fridge.
