frida so, so, so, soooooo very much enjoys running with me, especially as the temps get colder. she can easily do 10 mile and under runs and gives me a “wait – what? we’re stopping?” look every time ( no surprise really since malamutes frequently make best running breeds lists ). i’m pretty sure she could easily do a marathon. it makes me wonder what sort of training regime she’d have to do to not get injured.
frida’s the first level of communication that it’s time for dinner is relatively subtle. she comes over and sits on your foot and leans into your leg. she does not stay subtle long. next, she will sit up and stare right at you. then, the “talking” begins. “raawr, raaawr, RAAAAWRR!”
after many years of having full, white pines for christmas trees we brought back a fir from the upper peninsula, partly because of the fond memories we have of living in the pacific northwest and christmas with noble firs.
but this one reminds me of the sad christmas tree in the “a charlie brown christmas”. or maybe i just need to give it a chance?
although it looks rough what with the bared teeth, it’s all good old fashioned doggy pack behavior fun, though i’m pretty sure polka’s insistence on being near a human is strategic move in case frida the malamute gets a little too agro ( which never happens unless, we’ve learned, there is food around ).
thankful to have had a good run along lake michigan, but they will be even more so when meal preparation is done and they are no longer banished from the kitchen!
on longer trips, especially since we take frida mostly everywhere with us, we’re often wanting more space in the car. on a trip to maine we saw a car with one of these roofbags and it looked like it might do the trick; affordable, waterproof, easy to put on and take off, and made in the USA.
we’re dog sitting for an extended period of time so on this trip to the upper peninsula of michigan it made even more sense to try out the roof bag so we could have both of the dogs in the space where the luggage would normally go.
so far, so good, although the dogs are a little confused 😃
will our luggage be scattered all over US 2? who knows!
