the cover of the report is an excellent reproduction of a map in the book.

38/365. heading to state hockey championships!
odin’s hockey team has best record in their league and now they’re headed to state championships after beating sparta 7-2 in “playdowns”. here’s a nice shot of one of the viroqua thunder players, after receiving well placed pass from the player in the background, getting the puck past two defenders to score a goal. in the photo, the puck is juuuuuust getting up and over the goalie’s stick.
that’s odin standing in the top left corner playing defense 🙂
37/365. Yet Another Cairn.
from the semi-occasional series, cairns around the snowdeal home. i *think* these are from the coast of maine. or maybe the shores of lake superior. either way who doesn’t love stacks of rocks? no origami crane topper for this cairn.
36/365. Sledding with work peeps at the Hemstead Homestead.
waaaaay down the hill on the right is louise hemstead, organic valley’s chief operating officer. i can’t believe i missed getting a photo of her jumping on a sled and ripping down the hill. fun time with great people in a lovely setting. i haven’t sledded on a hill this big since I was a kid at my grandparent’s home in jonesboro, maine.
35/365. morning chores.
living in a rural area, having backyard chickens makes no economic sense since fresh eggs are readily available and, almost literally, a dime a dozen. but the daily routine of saying “Hallo!” while feeding The Girls always makes me a smile which, i think, is priceless.
making odin french toast with eggs collected straight from the coop even more so 🙂
34/365. spira mirabilis.
snail shells collected by odin and his cousin at a beach in wisconsin. a nice example of a logarithmic spiral which jacob bernoulli called “the marvelous spiral” and approximates the golden spiral. snail shells are just one of nature’s many examples.
