whoowee! odin’s team has had an up and down season but they pulled it together for the game that determined whether or not they’d be going to the state championships! they beat sparta 6-3!
i’m proud of odin and the kids for keeping their cool during a tough game with lots of provocations and pulling out a win!
i’ve been borrowing odin’s yi action camera to capture 2K video behind the net using a suction cup mount on the glass. works great ( someday i might get around to posting some of the video )!
except someone on the yi product team must not play hockey because there’s an light on power button on the front of the camera that blinks when it’s recording which reflects off the glass and is super annoying in the recorded video.
it’s a curious product design decision since there’s light on the back of camera also blinks when it’s recording. why do you even need a blinking light on the front of the camera? in addition to being annoying, it seems like an unnecessary drain on the battery.
hi. ho. nothing a little hockey tape can’t fix.
seen while watching odin’s hockey team play a game in la crosse, wisconsin. i’m sure the la crosse parents were wondering why i was taking a picture of the organic fuel marketing on the glass. most of the viroqua parents know i’m a brand manager at organic valley SO I CAN’T HELP MYSELF!
it’s a little less subtle in “real life” but not obnoxiously so
odin is a voracious fuel drinker and i swear i don’t force him to drink it. he doesn’t know anything about refueling after a game, he just loves the taste.
would it be too much if i brought samples to hand out to the la crosse parents at our next game? just kidding. sort of.
odin’s team played two games today and lost both games. they lost the first game against onalaska, 4-5 ( could have won on a different day ) and the second game against tomah, 0-10 ( holy cow, what a formidable team! ).
i captured it all on video so coach will have plenty of teachable moments to review with the kids
‘cause it’s all hockey all the time around here.
inhaling chlorine fumes at a secret, undisclosed location in dubuque, iowa with one third of odin’s hockey team while they get some relaxation time before a weekend of hockey games.
it’s become a tradition to spend new year’s day at a hockey tournament where teams are made up of players from around the region. it’s a great way for the kids to get to know other players and a perfect way to spend the first day of the new year. this year the pee wee tournament is hosted in black river falls which is about an hour away from our hometown.
odin’s team won the first game of the tournament, 2-4. a great start to 2016!
watching teams in between games about to dig into tourney fundraiser grilled steak and potatoes which we’ve learned is way better than you might expect to find in a hockey arena.
aaaand odin’s team won second game, 3-5! they’re leading tourney in wins & points. just one more game! 52 shots on goal!
whooooo! odin’s team swept the tourney send won their third game! 1-5. i’m going to guess their will be some tired kids after 3 hours of hockey.
i spy odin spying me.
no trophy, no awards – nothing but the the satisfaction of knowing they won the tournament. great job, team!
we’ll definitely be back next year.
after the games, with the crowds clearing out, odin finds a seat to watch the winter classic.
