16 year old me would be mortified to learn 42 year old me gets together with a group of adults and their children to play music and sing songs. all jokes about me singing “if i only had a brain” will be sent to /dev/null.
we’ve been doing it for years. turns out it’s good, clean fun. the kids enjoy it and it’s a great excuse for me to challenge my inner hermit.
one of life’s little pleasures in the driftless region – hanging out at the driftless cafe playing cribbage with kris and odin while waiting for local, organic dinner to be served. the lake louie ipa makes the impending defeat just a little easier.
the cafe is a special place and they have a kickstarter thing going to help fund their expansion. check it out and feel free to kick in a few bucks whether or not you live in the area 🙂
amish “corn shocks” are piles of drying corn which will soon be gathered up on wagons and hand shucked or run through a corn picker.
chicago thrillist expounds that the driftless region, “…is one of the coolest places in the entire country, not even just WI…” maybe that’s why even though milwaukee is the new portland all the cool milwaukeeans are moving here. and a few musical minnesotans. if you’re into biking, well, we’ve got that too.
it’s impossible to convey the beauty of the view from the top of the ridge just a mile from my desk at organic valley. maybe a picture is worth a thousand words.
the view of the classic driftless region geography makes for quite an energizing “out and back” lunch run even on a dull day, all the more so when it’s sunny, green and lush.
do yourself a favor and view large on a big screen.
out on the first 7 mile leg of a 14 mile run in coolish temperature and fog while listening to breathe by minnesota and i had a thought that if it was on infinite jukebox i could possibly maybe have just forrest gumped it and just kept going and going and going…
