day 2492: The Tooth Fairy Philosopher.

day 2492: The Tooth Fairy Philosopher. I.

we were all a bit suprised last night when odin lost his fourth tooth just two short months almost to the day after losing his first.

after giving odin a sacagawea one dollar coin for his first tooth and a two dollar bill for his second tooth and three magic stones for his third tooth we were all curious what she’s bring for the fourth, especially given such short notice!

and it seems that the the tooth fairy decided to show her philosophical side this time around and left a card with “Love Joy Widsom and Kindness” on the front cover under his pillow.

day 2492: The Tooth Fairy Philosopher. II.

on the inside of the car we found a small pouch with four seeds and a poem:

here are four wishes i have for you
plant them well so they grow in you
plant each with care deciding just where
the fruit of the harvest we will reap
and in our hearts it will keep

we explained that the tooth fairy meant the four seeds were magical and represented Love, Joy, Widsom & Kindness and that she wanted him to grow those things deep in his heart. or something like that.

it was a little complicated but he thought it was a mighty thoughtful gift.

we’ll try to plant the seeds and see if they grow anything real along with a metaphor. who knows, maybe we’ll end up with a giant beanstalk in the backyard.

day 2464: holy moly! more tooth lossage!

day 2464: holy moly! more tooth lossage!

wow. i thought after losing his first and second teeth in quick succession, we’d have a brief break before odin lost his third. much to my surprise after odin awoke from his nap, he excitedly came downstairs to reveal that a mere one week after losing his last tooth that he had lost another!

i sure hope the tooth fairy is prepared for another visit!

since she brought one sacagawea gold dollar coin for his first tooth and one two dollar bill for his second tooth, odin is really wondering what she will bring for his third tooth. although it would be super cool, i’m guessing she’s probably not bringing a three cent piece ( i had no idea they existed until i saw this ).

who knows what he’ll find under his pillow in the morning….

day 2457: the tooth fairy is making another visit!

almost a month to the day after the tooth fairy made her first visit, odin lost a second tooth!

of course it’s all very exciting because odin really, really wants to know if she brings a gold coin for every lost tooth, or just the first.

we’ll see. who knows, maybe this time she’ll bring a funky two dollar bill.

wow, that permanent tooth is really coming in fast!

as is quickly becoming tradition in our house, odin put his “milk tooth” in a special little box for safe keeping until being tucked under his pillow.

we’re all amazed the tooth fairy has, so far at least, been able to remove the box and place a gift inside without waking odin from his sleepy slumber.

[ outtake. odin doesn’t really go to any great length to hide that he’s reeaaaallllyyyyy bored of his poppi taking pictures of him and his tooth! 🙂 ]

how much does the tooth fairy pay?

in an unusual move the tooth fairy sent me a instant message asking me to pick up some sacagawea dollar coins and two dollar bills. said she knew she was stopping off at our house and didn’t have time to get to the bank and wanted to know if we’d spot her some.

sure. why not? i mean, i’m sure she’s good for it, right?

relatedly, informal polling and web searching has yielded interesting answrss to the question, “how much does the tooth fairy pay?” this article closely mirrors my personal poll results. high rolling tooth fairies pay $5 for the first tooth and $3 thereafter. tooth fairies “from the block” one or two bucks for the first tooth and fifty cents to a dollar for the rest.

day 2431: the tooth fairy will be visiting odin tonight!

sure enough, less than a week after i wrote that we were in The Final Days of Having All The Baby Teeth, odin excitedly came in our room very early in the morning to excitedly inform us that he HAD LOST HIS TOOTH!

i tried to explain what a “bittersweet” moment was while making the morning coffee but he was far more interested in pondering what tooth fairy might be bringing him.

“probably a tooth brush. maybe a coin.”

me thinks, a pretty good guess.

we both agreed that his baby tooth sure seemed fit for a baby’s mouth and not at all the proper sized tooth for his big mouth. or something like that 🙂

it wouldn’t be A Proper Day in the snowdeal home without some Added Excitement and today was no exception. at some point while getting ready for school, odin misplaced his tooth and after searching high and low many, many, many! times we were so convinced that we were never going to find the tooth that we decided to write a note to the tooth fairy explaining the situation and hoping that she would have special tooth sensing powers, find it and still leave a little something under the pillow.

just literally moments before bedtime, almost as on queue ( but not really ), mama The Master Finder did indeed find the tooth lying on top of a copy of, ironically ( i think ), “I Spy A-to-Z”.

so we safely put the tooth in a special little box to be tucked under his pillow. maybe – just maybe – he’ll sleep a few winks and miss the tooth fairy’s visit.
