funny and true! i can’t imagine who he might have inherited storytelling trait from.
seen when arriving for our first ever parent/teacher conference at the public school which he loves. he’s getting straight A’s, actively participates and his teachers think he can be a class leader that the other kids look up to. his teachers had nothing but praise for what he brings to the class. a lot of his success comes from him being him, but i do think the great foundation he got from his years at waldorf school plays a part as well.
he never, ever ceases to impress and amaze me. we’re so very proud.
i can’t believe odin is about to start his 8th hockey season. i remember very clearly thinking as we were trying out different sports when he was three years old, “oh, the local ‘learn to skate’ program will be a fun way to learn a new skill. he might stick with it for a year or two. probably won’t last.”
team photo after an early morning game in chilly fall temps. they lost 3-1 but if they played the first half like the second half they maybe could have won.
and yes, i’m being That Guy. i think it’s generally considered bad form to take a photograph of the official team photo being taken but we bought a print so i don’t feel so bad about stealing revenue. but there’s still the fact that maybe i distracted a couple of the kids. i trust the photog took a few extra shots to compensate. 🙂
i had a great time with odin shooting thesuper blood moon eclipse! he’s been slowly showing an interest in photography and was asking questions about how to shoot with the dslr. one of his shots is in the sequence in following photo. he’s a natural!
he tried to get a few shots with his iPod touch and while he was not happy with his results, i was happy with mine 🙂
i’ve tried to shoot a few eclipses in my time and they’ve never really turned out. pretty happy with the sequence. odin took the first shot without a tripod!
full super blood moon eclipse! shot with a telephoto lens and 4 second exposure. i don’t have a tripod so i macgyvered it and put the camera on top of our car and positioned the lens with books so i could get a non-shaky shot.
odin has been playing soccer for a few years and most of that time has been as right or left fullback which he enjoys but he’s mentioned that he would like to give the goalie position a try.
the good news is that today he got his chance. the bad news was that it was against a very tough team 🙂
he stopped more goals that he let by and kept the other team out of double digits. maybe he has the goalie mentality because when the game was over he said he had a lot of fun even thought the other team was really good and would love to do it again.
