spent the day hanging out with some fine folks involved with the valley stewardship network ( one of which is my better half! ) on the west branch of the kickapoo river. he’s very serious about tackling the rapids such are they are 🙂
still getting used to odin and his all-growed-up-ed-ness wearing contact lenses.
it occurs to me that i should start a semi-occasional series of scenes while commuting from here to there in the driftless region. STRONG SCENES!
indeed, the earth is not a cold dead place ( see what i did there? ). seen on my early evening run. had to trespass in a few backyards to get a proper vantage. glad i made the effort 🙂
they say, the average cloud weighs a million pounds. i’m guess this one is above average.
the first day of spring was a few days ago and with no snow on the ground for some time, lots of folks just put away shovels for the season. of course, mother nature didn’t get the memo about winter being over.
it could get heavier overnight with 8 inches of total accumulation possible! odin’s betting there’s a good chance for school delay or cancellation 🙂
waaaaay down the hill on the right is louise hemstead, organic valley’s chief operating officer. i can’t believe i missed getting a photo of her jumping on a sled and ripping down the hill. fun time with great people in a lovely setting. i haven’t sledded on a hill this big since I was a kid at my grandparent’s home in jonesboro, maine.
