now, thanks to seasonal construction, there are four more traffic lights within a mile of each other on the same stretch of single lane road. UGH I NEED TO FIND A NEW ROUTE BECAUSE IT’S ALMOST LIKE BIG CITY STOP AND GO TRAFFIC ( just kidding. sort of )!
( the light had just turned green when i snapped this picture so i was not moving and nobody was behind me 🙂
since 1999, the norseman stood in westby wisconsin ( they do love their scandinavian heritage, carved out of a tree trunk. but over the years it, wear and tear took it’s toll. a few years ago the arm broke off and it looked as if its days were numbered.
but a group of folks got together and raised the money to create a refurbished statue made out of fiberglass which will, hopefully, stand the test of time.
he’s got a bit of a nordic lumbersexual thing going on.
after a brief reprieve from traveling 35 miles 3 times a week for hockey, we’re back to traveling 35 miles once a week through august to watch odin run drills in at the green island ice arena in la crosse ( he’s in the red socks on the right ).
so, we’re building a new building in nearby cashton, wisconsin that’s coming along nicely. being in an old bank has been fine and all but can’t wait to move into the new building in early 2016!
i’m not sure who made the decision to not center the gambrel but it’s going to mess with my head 🙂
hopefully we’ll get some new recruits for the association and maybe a few new organic fuel consumers 🙂
sometimes i’m surprised at how badly i can fail at capturing the moment. no posed shot of all the players on the truck. no action shot of them rollerblading around the float, handing out candy. no good shot of the truck with the great looking banners we had made. sigh.
coming home from hockey practice at the omnicenter, odin and i stopped to admire the view. looking northwest across the river, belle island to the left and rosebud island to the right.
