i thought it’d be fun to get a festive picture in front of the christmas tree with grandparents and cousins but didn’t anticipate odin would block most of the tree. he’s almost taller than grandma!

day 4015 – 180/365. a rare family reunion!
wow, how time flies – we haven’t had this crew together for 6 years! since then some have been born, many have gotten bigger and at least one of us has gotten much smaller 🙂 always great to see family. odin had a grand time with his cousins.
i’m sure somewhere i have a photo of us the last time we got together that i should dig out.
as always, the odds are slim of getting everyone to look at the camera at the same time in family photos.
day 3164: playing Uno with grandpa and grandma snowdeal!
grandpa and grandma snowdeal drove a long way to watch odin play in his next-to-the-last hockey game of the season and while they hung out they got to play looooooots of Uno which is one of odin’s favorite ways to pass the time.
they almost didn’t even notice that he likes to invent rules as he goes along which, surprisingly, seem to favor him winning 🙂
is the tendancy to enjoy card and dice games genetic? i’m don’t think odin knows that i grew up playing Uno ( and Yahtzee ) with my grandma and grandpa snowdeal.
day 3095: hanging out with family on the eve of christmas eve.
per usual, we had whirlwind travels to see friends and family over the holidays. on the eve of christmas eve, odin and us had a fun time hanging out with grandparents and cousins!
odin and his cousin jonah only get to see each other a few times a year, but that doesn’t stop them from getting on like old buddies.
what are the odds, i can get a picture of three grandkids with grandma with everyone looking at the camera? slim and none. and slim is out of town 🙂
perhaps jonah is wondering when all this picture taking will be over!
and yet even more evidence as to why i should not be the designated family photographer. just kidding. sort-of.
who might be trying to tickle grandma while i’m trying to take a picture! grandpa, or odin? OR BOTH?!
day 2660: grandparents are grand!
day 2660: making the rounds at the gays mills apple orchards.
after a fantastic pumpkin patch adventure we headed out to gays mills, wisconsin for a true taste of fall by visiting the area’s renowned apple orchards.
over a hundred years ago someone discovered the banks of soil around the kickapoo river makes for some great apples and now more than a thousand acres producing apples nationally known for their color and flavor.
( the sun was in his eyes when i took the picture so he wanted to wear his mother’s sunglasses. )
hmmm, which is better? the honeycrisp apple cider, or the other one?
the honeycrisp, for sure.
i will not make a joke about being surprised that the apple wont fit into his big mouth. i will not make a joke about being surprised that the caramel apple wont fit into his big mouth. i will not make a joke about being surprised that the apple wont fit into his big mouth. i will not make a joke about being surprised that the apple wont fit into his big mouth.
one can’t help but wonder what prompted the instruction on the sign to not put your through the hole.
kickapoo orchards has a fun corn and sunflower maze that must be specatacular when the sunflowers are in full bloom and the trees are at peak color.
debated if it would be a good idea to tell odin about the family that got so lost in a corn maze they had to call 911 and be rescued by the police?
i decided it probably wasn’t the best idea.
day 2660: pumpkin carving with grandma.
of course, if you’ve gone on A Pumpkin Patch Adventure with Grandparents you have to carve at least one of them into a proper jack-o’-lantern with a master carver.
while i sort-of anticipated someone losing a finger i guess i should have never doubted grandma’s skill at keeping all digits attached. no doubt she’s carved more than few pumpkins in her day and to the best of my knowledge nobody has ended up in the emergency room 🙂
i might be a bit biased, but that’s a great lookin’ jack-o’-lantern!
