maybe she’s enjoying laying next to him, or maybe she just really wants his candy cane 🙂

day 3774: doing drills at a laura stamm power skating clinic.
it’s the beginning of hockey regular season so we’re spending more time in hockey arenas. and this weekend we spent even more time than usual as we signed odin up for a laura stamm power skating clinic in baraboo, wisconsin. the well-regarded clinics are taught all over the country and usually cost over $200 but the baraboo youth hockey association subsidizes the cost and it costs just $75 if you’re not part of the association ( $35 if you are a member of the baraboo youth hockey league ). so it’s quite a deal for an intensive 6 hours of skating split over 2 days.
drills! drills! drills!
in this drill, the kids skate fast and drop down and alternate sliding on each knee without standing up.
i am certain that i could not do this.
lots and lots of drills to improve their skating backwards skills.
and maybe a bit of goofing off with friends who give odin a hard time when his poppi is trying to take pictures 🙂
day 3768: and so it begins.
day 3744: The Cellist.
odin picked the cello for his school music program. With solid foundation in sight reading and music theory from ongoing piano lessons I’m sure he’ll pick it up quick! i can’t wait to hear the sound of the strings through the house. right now they’re practicing picking out notes. bow work starts soon.
day 3738: newer, bigger hockey gear!
day 3736: current antisocial obsession.
he’s tearing through diary of a wimpy kid at the expense of talking with his poppi 🙂
day 3711: shooting selfies with the DSLR, thinking about photography.
we’re out and about chasing the wind with the kite aerial photography rig and odin grabs the dslr and follows me around shooting away. it didn’t take long before he starts shooting selfies.
“poppi, i never told anyone but i’d really like a camera like this. i think i’d like to take more pictures.”
he takes a ton of photos with his ipod but he thinks the pictures on the DSLR look much better and likes how he can have more control. i think our future will be filled with photowalking adventures!
and in case you’re wondering day 253 was the first time he took a picture with the DSLR and day 1000 he shot his first selfie ( before they were called selfies ).
