after 4 months of sitting in hockey arenas on weekends, i almost can’t believe the season is just about over. two games against onalaska today, the kids lost the first game 3-4 but won the second and last game of the regular season 4-3!
it’s always good to end the season with a win!
the next time they play a game it will be against dodgeville in the state championships on march 12th. they lost to dodgeville by one point in a game earlier in the season and i think they really want to avenge that loss. should be a good game.
i had big plans for a photographic ending to 2015 and my 365 photo-a-day project, but alas life got in the way. i suppose it’s appropriate that i find myself ending both in a hockey arena watching odin run hockey drills
after practice, we’ll end 2015 the same as 2014, going to bed early to get up at 5:45am for early morning new year’s day hockey tournament. stay safe, ya’ll. see you on the flipside.
i was manning the penalty box with a great view of a tough game against black river falls. odin’s team lost 2-8 and hopefully learned a lesson about not playing as a team against a formidable opponent.
and one of us wanted to go to the high school girls’ hockey game. one of us got his way.
actually, his logic is sound. we can catch the movie anytime, but this particular game only happens once. #priorities
and odin’s first game as a pee wee skating with 11 and 12 year olds. viroqua played sparta at home. holy cow, right from the start it was apparent this season is going to be something new. with bigger kids on the ice it seemed like they were playing double time!
i wasn’t sure what to expect, since odin’s team has a new goalie with no experience. but he did a great job and the defense, odin included, did a tremendous job helping him out. the offense kept the pressure on with 24 shots on goal ( twice that of the opposing team ).
whooohooo – viroqua won 8 to 5!
( in this shot odin is in the foreground chasing down the puck. )
you all sick of hockey photos yet? good, because there are five more months of them coming
the players were getting evaluated tonight. here, odin is demonstrating his backhand shot.
i’m pretty sure when i was 11 that working my keister off in a hockey arena after a long week would have been last on my list of things to do. odin is not me.
