some might recall when i was pondering the ethics of five finger discounting the gnome salt and pepper shaker holder. not long after that i learned that the salt and pepper shaker holders were available for sale right across the street at dregne’s scandinavian gifts! no five finger discount required ( not that i’d ever really do that ).
so i actually managed to think far enough ahead to get one before christmas and get it wrapped and under the tree ( much to the surprise of kris and odin ). makes a great gift!
and now it’s on our kitchen table. makes me smile every time i reach for salt and pepper.
with odin and kris, eating lunch at borgen’s cafe in westby, wisconsin where you don’t have to look far detect a hint of the local scandinavian heritage.
we wonder where we might be able to score the gnome salt and pepper shaker holder on the table? i think one might look great on our kitchen table. i know it’d be wrong to just take him home.
hmmmmm…
on the heels of research showing no evidence of benefit and some evidence of potential harm to sharply reducing salt intake, the new york times rounds up the latest research indicating numerous health benefits associated with moderate coffee consumption including reduction in the risk of developing Type 2 diabetes, basal cell carcinoma, prostate cancer, oral cancer and breast cancer recurrence and dementia. whatever will they discover next that everybody “knows” is wrong? maybe that full-fat dairy consumption lowers risk of cardiovascular death? oh wait, they did already.
