’tis the season for ice candles!

i don’t know if ice candle making is practiced primarily by yoopers with finnish saunas ( that’s where we got the idea ), but ’tis the season for ice candles!

you make them by filling a sauna bucket ( aka a five gallon pail ) with water and letting it sit outside for a few days to build up a thick layer of ice. before it freezes completely through and through, take the ice out of the bucket, clear out the center and put a candle in the middle. a solid ice candle should last till spring and is perfect for lighting the path to your sauna!
