after being prompted to put some more thought into by a fellow flickrite, we’ve revised our revision of The Plan and will now no longer being taking a tour of lovely scenic southern ontario. nothing against canadians, of course, but the rumoured wait in line at customs pretty much defeats any advantage and crossing twice comes with the risk of the possibly of sitting for hours longer at the border with an unhappy child while all the items that you’ve meticulously packed in the trailor are inspected with great scrutiny.

amidst rearranging our driving plans, we’ve spent the day attending to endless odds and ends. one of the “small” details that wasn’t taken care of yesterday was preparing the fish for transport. i have no idea if this is proper thing to do, but a employee of a local pet store was sure that putting them in a cooler with a portable filter would keep them alive and relatively unstressed.

i hope she’s right.

there’s always one more project to be tackled with the galaxie 500. before hauling a trailer over a thousand miles, i thought it might be a good idea to replace the radiator hoses to help prevent the chance that i might find myself stranded on the highway with an blown hose and an over heated engine. or worse.

the big upper and lower radiator hoses hoses were relatively easy to find, but this little four inch bypass hose was a little trickier to track down and, of course, it was also the one hose that was looking the most in need of replacing.

luckily, i tried a local ford dealer and just happened to have a single replacement left in stock! apparently they must have changed the design many years ago and don’t keep many around, since according to the guy behind the counter, “we don’t sell many of those anymore.”

lucky for me they keep one around just in case.
