the view from the stonington’s peninsula point lighthouse.

while on our yooper vacation we took some time to visit the stonington peninsula point lighthouse which was only two miles from camp.

stonington point is a resting spot for monarchs heading to mexico. they gather strength by eating milkweed before setting off across lake michigan to door county wisconsin.

if you catch visit at just the right time, supposedly you can see teh skies fille with butterflies. but this year i think the nights were too chilly which discourages mass gathering. oh well, we had a great time walking to top of the lighthouse and taking in the wonderful view.

incidentally, this 270 degree panorama really taught me the limits of shooting panoramas without a tripod, especially while walking around the top of a lighthouse!
