on the treo 600, small keypads and face grease

during my recent layovers in various airports
around the country, i’ve noticed that the

treo 600

is quiet popular with the early-adopting suits, which makes seems
to jibe with the anectodes of

treo madness sweeping the nation

. i’ve been drooling over the

treo

, but i had a few reactions to seeing it in the wild that surprised
me. firstly, it’s uglier in real life than it is in print. i know
this bucks the conventional wisdom, but i think it really is ugly
and clunky. secondly, after seeing people pressing the device against
their faces while making calls, i can’t help but think that the
tiny qwerty keyboard would be susceptible to accumulation of, er,
face grease.

i know, nobody wants to talk about it, but facial oils
are a reality and you have to wonder how easy it is to use the
keyboard with a good layer of slippery face grease.
