since the galaxie has been off the road for years and i live in southwest wisconsin where there are kwik trip’s a-plenty that always have a ethanol-free gasoline blend ( for now, but maybe not forever? ), i hadn’t really noticed that ethanol free gasoline is disappearing fast.
i’m in my old stomping grounds in grand rapids, michigan and can’t find a single ethanol-free pump and the pure-gas site doesn’t list any. surely, there must be a pump somewhere in the city or nearby suburbs?!
i’m not as concerned about ethanol in newer cars but automaker tests show damage to older car engines from running on ethanol ( and their definition of old was 2001 to 2009 ) and i generally try to avoid running the 50 year old ford windsor 289 on gasoline that contains it.
It is actually the E15 gasoline that causes damage. I have yet to see E15 at a gas station anywhere. Most stations around here sell E10. I did use the pure-gas.org website when I went on a road trip last month to see if my car (a 2009) ran any better and it seemed to get better fuel economy. Lawmakers in Maine recently voted to ban ethanol in gasoline. http://bangordailynews.com/2013/05/08/politics/maine-house-takes-stand-against-ethanol-in-fuel/
