harummph. i installed 128 more megs of ram on my aging tower (PII-350) at home for a grand total of 256. it’s good thing ram is cheap, since it made narry a performance difference. i guess the bottlenecks lay elsewhere. maybe it’s time to upgrade the cpu. if i remember correctly, i should be able to put in a 450 mHZ chip. with that set-up i should be in good shape to transition the tower to perform amazing feats as an 802.11 gateway for the home-area-network that i’ve been planning to set up since half-past-forever-ago.
time to start scoping out the price/performance landscape of the laptop market.
