Ale to the chief: White House releases (first?) presidential beer recipe
after much prodding, including a freedom of information act request and a online petition, the white house finally released the recipes for honey ale and white house honey porter. but is it the first white house homebrew? we know washington loved beer but there’s no evidence that he brewed himself ( that i can find ). and jefferson was known to have brewed beer himself after his retirement but there’s also no evidence he brewed in the white house. wikipedia claims it’s the first beer known to have been brewed in the white house, but i find that hard to believe given our founding father’s love for brew.
